Jinzhu Gao, female, earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Ohio State University in 2004. From June 2004 to August 2008, she served as a research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and later as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Minnesota, Morris. She joined the University of the Pacific in 2008, where she is currently a Professor of Computer Science and Chair of the MSCS program.
Academic Contributions:
Dr. Gao’s primary research centers on intelligent data analytics and innovative computer science education. Over the past twenty years, she has collaborated extensively with educators, researchers, application scientists, and Silicon Valley technology companies to develop online AI-enabled data visual analytics platforms. These platforms support collaborative science and education, mobile health, IoT data analytics, business operational visibility, and visual predictive analysis across various industries.
Her research has been supported by grants from prestigious organizations, including the Ohio Supercomputer Center, the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the University of the Pacific, the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Department of Energy (DOE). She has published more than 60 research papers, with her work appearing in leading journals such as IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, IEEE Transactions on Computers, and IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications.
